GuessTheDot is a topography guessing game. This page explains, in plain language, what data we handle and why. You can play singleplayer without an account; an account is only needed for multiplayer and for saving your stats online.
When you create an account we store, for account management:
We do not ask for any other personal details, and we do not use your data for advertising.
To power the leaderboards and your progress, your profile is linked to:
This data is tied to your profile so we can show leaderboards, standings and your personal statistics dashboard.
The game keeps a few things in your browser’s local storage so it works well without an account: your singleplayer high scores, your avatar configuration, your language choice, your daily-challenge streak and your game settings. To keep you signed in, the login system also stores a functional session token in your browser. These are strictly functional, not tracking or advertising cookies, so no separate consent banner is required.
Online data stays while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the account dashboard (“Danger zone → Delete account”). This is immediate and cannot be undone. Locally stored data stays in your browser until you delete your account, clear your browser data, or play on a different device.
We rely on Supabase for authentication (sign-in) and database storage; your account and game data are stored there on our behalf. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in. To display the game, your browser also loads map tiles, fonts and code libraries from external providers (such as OpenStreetMap/CARTO, PDOK and public CDNs), which by their nature receive your IP address. We do not sell your data to anyone. If you take out a Pro subscription, payment is handled by Stripe; Stripe receives the payment details you enter and we never see or store your card number. We keep only the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers needed to tell whether your account is Pro.
The controller for the personal data described above is:
